Strategic Equity Investments

Investments in this category are in entities where Beconwood intends establishing a strategic holding. Typically, Beconwood identifies companies which are under resourced and/or undervalued where it appears that Beconwood can bring value to them by providing them with our skills and resources. We seek to influence the strategic direction and operations of the investee companies.

ASX listed companies in which strategic holdings (directly or indirectly) are currently held include :-

• Destra Corporation Ltd (ASX: DES)
• Jumbuck Entertainment Ltd (ASX: JMB)
• Q Ltd (ASX: QXQ)
• Quickflix Ltd (ASX: QFX).

Investment Criteria

Beconwood identifies and invests in listed Small Market Cap companies having some of the following attributes :-

• Companies with significant opportunities for growth.
• Companies which are undervalued.
• Companies in an industry about which Beconwood has knowledge and expertise.
• The ability of Beconwood becoming a strategic investor in the company.
• Companies requiring :-
  • Capital for growth
  • Strategic analysis/direction
  • Board changes
  • A higher standard of Corporate Governance
  • Assistance with M&A activity
  • Improvement in share register composition
  • Improvement in shareholder relationship management 

Share Trading

Beconwood manages (as principal) a portfolio of ASX listed shares which are purchased with the purpose of making short term gains. Most of the trading takes place in Small Market Cap stocks. This also provides Beconwood with a research capability which can assist in the identification of potential new strategic equity investments.

Venture Capital

Beconwood invests in existing companies which have quality management, a sound business model and intend to proceed to an IPO in the short term as part of their business growth strategy.
